5 to 7PM at the St Johns McMennimens, 8203 N. Ivanhoe (across from the Safeway store..) We’re excited to announce the first in what we hope are many BikePortland Get Togethers. The first one is happening this Tuesday (2/3) in St. Johns (details below).
The idea behind these new events is simple. We want to meet up with you off-line and give you an opportunity to connect with your neighbors for a lively discussion about local bike issues.
Anyone who lives, works, commutes, or otherwise spends time in the neighborhood is invited to join us.
Each month we’ll hold one in a different part of the city and we’ll bring in folks who are involved in the local bike scene to help kickstart the conversation.
Do you have ideas about how to improve biking on the St. Johns Bridge? What is the status of on-street bike parking in downtown? What are the safe and family-friendly bike routes through the neighborhood? Is Weir’s Cyclery really the oldest bike shop in Portland? What does PBOT have planned for St. Johns? These, and all other topics are fair game for discussion.

anyways, I look forward to meeting any and all tribesters at this event.. and please do come help plan for North Portlands evolution into the MadMax postpetroleum future...

Re: St Johns bikey people meetup.. 2-3-09
Thu, February 12, 2009 - 9:28 PMIt went off well and we met up with several new bikey people here in SJ/North Portland. It was kind of a wonky thing too, with Jon from BikePortland and Timo and Greg from PBOT ( formerly PDOT, the city transportation folks..). Lots is going to happen this summer with the City on bike/ped things here in North. And I have some plans too.So undoubtedly we will cross paths. I will try to post other bikey things here on np family..
Soon to come.. the SJ Parade and the Bizzare.. second saturday in May.. you gotta be there. Perhaps the Tribe folks might want to participate? ( no entry fee and its open to all who register in time. ) Perhaps an ad-hoc np family tribe, in caveman regalia? Burners on built badass bikes? You want to consider this?
