here we go posting another city of portland event. the thing that gets my attention is how successful this type event has been elsewhere in the world. And now its here in Portland.
Briefly a 6 mile route of non-primary streets will be closed off to motor traffic, and a temporary 6 mile 'circular park' will be created. at various venues, ( Penninsula and Arbor Lodge parks, among others.) and other venues will be hosting a huge community event. ride your bike, walk, rollerblade, skateboards..anything human powered. check out the link and you will find that this is a seriously huge communtiy event, and even we sophisticated, erudite urbanites can appreciate its possibilities.
So come on out!

What’s this all about? Sunday Parkways consists of six miles of local streets in North Portland that will be closed to traffic from8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The circular route will give Portlanders a chance to get out and be active right in their ownneighborhood. Participants can walk, bike, run, stroll, and roller blade along the route to activities in theparks as well as to nearby shops and businesses in the vicinity. It is a relaxed, non-competitive, FREEevent featuring a variety of activities in 4 parks and along the route.Once our group ride reached the Parkways we will disband to explore at our own pace.
For those inter-ested in riding back to St Johns with the group, we will meet back up at 1:30 pm at Arbor Lodge Parkat N Bryant & N Greeley.Every one is welcome!!Questions? Contact Shamus Lynsky at shamus.lynsky@gmail.com or 503-234-6685
